A pond is an excellent way to provide a habitat for wildlife (see here). Not only will it provide a water source throughout the year, it also offers a home for many amphibians and invertebrates that hibernate in water during the winter or use water to reproduce. There are many different shapes and sizes to choose from, although for wildlife the key is to make it deep enough so as not to freeze (thatâs a minimum of 60cm). Itâs also vital to have different depth levels and to include aquatic and marginal plants.
